Creativity short film in response to the National Curriculum

This short documentary was created while I was teaching at Cherrybrook Technology High School in response to the National Curriculum and the impact that it would have on the Creative Arts subjects. In this film, students were asked to respond to this issue and authentically express what these subjects mean to them.

Sir Ken Robinson

An inspiring speaker who talks about the need to acknowledge creativity as a critical skill to learn in school. In this TED talk he discusses the hierarchy of subjects in education and questions why creative subjects are always placed at the bottom. He encourages a new way of looking at creativity in particular how creativity can be linked to realising your passion. Why don’t they teach this in school?

Viral Stop Motion Animations

These stop motion animations were created by a Year 9 Visual Design class at Cherrybrook Technology High School in response to the National Curriculum where students were to use unusual materials to communicate a message based on ‘What is Creativity?’ and ‘Why is it important?’

A little imagination and a lot of patience can go a long way!
